Topographic Roof
A form-making exercise with rendering and composite drawings.
Rhino + Adobe Photoshop
In this project, I generated a series of topographic blocks that I would reinterpret as a roof structure, similar to Toyo Ito’s Kakamigahara Crematorium.

Initial Modeling
This project initially involved generating a cube of concrete in Rhino. This is that block, shown rendered in V-Ray with the contour lines of its topography overlaid.

Roof Generation
To the left is a GIF of the steps that went into creating the roof, from modeling the topography, to cutting it at a flat angle, to adding columns below the terrain.

Roof Renderings
The project culminated in a rendered version of the roof. Below are a
perspective view
, as well as a
worm’s eye axonometric with contour lines.
